July 1st 1864 Over

The first day in the WIA3 Campaign has been completed. The Army of the Arkansas took and held Midway Junction, but suffered heavy casualties than the Department of the Eastern Frontier in doing so. The result:

One of the highlight of the day was an attack by the Federal forces against Midway Junction. The attack was well executed, but the enemy position was strong and it was repulsed. The Confederates were eventually forced to withdraw from the junction when their flank was threatened.

 

 

There was also some sharp skirmishing at Midway between Confederate Cavalry and Federal Infantry at the DeLisle Junction and as far north as the Fenton Hay Field.
