By the close of 3rd October, the opposing armies operating in Marian, Izard, and Searcy counties were no longer in contact. Through the night of 3rd - 4th October, there was some troop movement, as other units working on entrenchments.
One the morning of 4th October, the Haggerty's and Dupont's corps were in contact again, this time near Buffalo City. No engage has taken place yet during the campaign, but as of 8:00 a.m. on October 4th, an unidentified Confederate cavalry brigade at R. Hathaway and an unidentified Federal infantry division at D. Jackson are in clear view of each other.
