Batteries are Firing - Mt. Olive 8:05 a.m.
The turn at Mt. Olive has commenced (no reports out yet). Herling's cavalry brigade has advanced down the Sylamore Road and then spread out as skirmishers with their left on the White River. They have found that the area has some broomsedge fields west of Sylamore Road that appeared as woods on the map. They are engaging skirmishers from a South Carolina regiment near a small patch of woods west of the road. Herling's right is skirmishing with Louisianans near a patch of woods close to where Wildcat Creek meets the river.
