During WIA3, each army had two headquarters regiments which guarded army headquarters and ordnance trains. The headquarters regiments marched during the campaign, but were not engaged. Each headquarters regiment started WIA3 as a green regiment with 800 men. They have received a quality increase to "trained" as they enter THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN, and they have been assigned to brigades as follows:
65th Wisconsin Infantry: Assigned to 2nd Brigade, Mallory's (1st) Division, Army of the Arkansas
203rd Indiana Infantry: Assigned to 2nd Brigade, Mallory's (1st) Division, Army of the Arkansas
91st Arkansas Infantry: Assigned to 1st Brigade, McCall's (7th) Division, Department of the Eastern Frontier
93rd Arkansas Infantry: Assigned to 2nd Brigade, Swain's (3rd) Division, Department of the Eastern Frontier.
Mallory's 2nd Brigade was heavily engaged through WIA2 and WIA3. During WIA2, the 151st United States Colored Troops was recruited and assigned to the 2nd Brigade. The 151st USCT has been transferred to the 6th Division for THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN.
