OOB Changes for Future Campaigns

The next WIA sim will be a test run of the WIA5 concept. Losses and quality changes in the will not carry over into the overall WIA OOB.  The full WIA armies will take the field again for WIA6: SPRING CAMPAIGN. The I Corps, II Corps and III Corps of each army will be maintained, but there will be some minor adjustments following THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN. (These changes refer to the order of battle of the armies, not the players):

1. DIVISION COMMANDERS: Some Corps Commanders held both Corps and Division commands (Stanley, Adams and Haggerty). Division Commanders were appointed as follows:
  • 1st Division, I Corps, AOA - Brigadier General William Clay. Clay had been the brigade commander of 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, I Corps (Missouri Brigade) since WIA2.
  • 1st Division, III Corps, AOA - Brigadier General Simon P. Henderson: Henderson is transferred from the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, III Corps. He temporarily held a  Division Command  in Dupont's Provisional Corps in the ENTERING THE OZARKS sim.
  • 1st Division, III Corps, DEF - Brigadier General Joseph Delaney (Promoted to Major General). Delaney commanded a brigade in Haggerty's Division at the Battle of Crooked Creek, which was a simulation held parallel to WIA2, and in ENTERING THE OZARKS.
2. WEAPONS UPGRADES: Units that were armed with M1855 Rifles, M1841 Rifles and M1842 Springfield Muskets converted to rifled muskets will be upgraded to either a M1853 Enfield Rifled Musket or M1861 Springfield Rifled Musket.

3. UNIT QUALITY: Unit quality will follow normal upgrades based on grades achieved, but the minimum quality for any unit that went through THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN will be "fair" (2)

4. CAPTURED GUNS: Wickson's Battery is reduced to 5 guns due to its loss of 2 guns. (It was a seven gun battery in THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN.) The guns were allocated to Richardson's Battery (now a 7-gun battery of 12lb Napoleons) and Burke's Battery (the original owner of the gun, which was captured from Burke's Battery at Crane and added to Wickson's Battery.)

5. 59th ARKANSAS INFANTRY: The 59th Arkansas Infantry lost their colors at Martin's Ferry and will appear without a flag.

6. DISBANDED UNITS (Army of the Arkansas): The following units ended THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN with less than 150 men and have been disbanded:
  • 167th Indiana (2/1/I): Remaining men transferred to 179th Indiana
  • 208th Ohio (1/2/I): Remaining men transferred to 209th Ohio
  • 133rd USCT (2/1/III): Remaining men transferred to 139th USCT
  • 180th Indiana (1/2/III): Remaining men transferred to 163rd Indiana
  • 63rd Missouri (1/2/III): Remaining men transferred to 60th Missouri
  • 180th Illinois (2/2/III): Remaining men transferred to 161st Illinois
  • 161st Indiana (2/2/III): Remaining men transferred to 163rd Indiana
  • 16th Missouri Cavalry (2/cav): Remaining men transferred to 19th Missouri Cavalry
7. CONSOLIDATED UNITS (Department of the Eastern Frontier): Due to depletion of one or both of the units, the following DEF Regiments have been consolidated into a single unit:
  • 31st and 34th Louisiana (2/1/I)
  • 75th and 82nd Georgia (3/1/I)
  • 24th and 35th Texas (2/2/II)
  • 76th and 83rd Alabama (1/1/III)
  • 34th and 36th South Carolina (3/2/III)
  • 16th and 17th Missouri Cavalry (2/Cav)

8. BRIGADE COMMANDERS: The following colonels have assumed command of brigades at the conclusion of THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN:

  • 3/3/I/AOA: Col. William J. Davidson
  • 1/1/III/AOA: Col. Albert D. Bourne
  • 3/1/III/AOA: Col. Samuel J. Beck
  • 1/2/III/AOA: Col. James Glendenning

  • 2/1/II/DEF: Col. Samuel N. Doane (Promoted to Brigadier General)
