Revision in Progress - WIA5 becomes The Spring Campaign

With the low level of interest in a purely strategic campaign, WIA5 is under revision as THE SPRING CAMPAIGN. The working draft of the simulation has some of the following features:

  1. Full Armies: The armies that came out of THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN would be represented in full, with several additional green divisions added.
  2. Corps Level: Players would command corps, with two to three divisions under their command. Divisions from the same corps could be assigned to different towns across the campaign map.
  3. Newton and Carrollton Counties: The campaign theatre would shift slightly west and enter what was then Newton and Carrollton Counties (now including Boone County). The far western side of THE OZARKS CAMPAIGN theatre becomes the far eastern edge of THE SPRING CAMPAIGN and White River is no longer an obstacle.
  4. Victory Condition: The winning army would be the first to take the enemy's headquarters town by changing position of the major objective in-game. The military problem: Defend your own headquarters town while taking that of the enemy.
  5. Smaller Campaign Theatre: There are fewer towns in this simulation, fewer obstacles to movement and a slightly better road network. With large armies and a definite victory condition, the armies are sure to start clashing early in the simulation. Marshall's Prairie, Rolling Prairie, Crooked Creek and Borland have a high potential of becoming battlefields.
Here is a provision campaign map from the current draft of the simulation:

Berryville, Forsyth, Point Peter and Lebanon could be removed to further squeeze the armies into the campaign theatre and force breakthroughs rather than maneuver.
