Back to Izard County....

The last map prepared for upcoming OZARKS CAMPAIGN command simulation was Rapps Barren in Marion County (now in Baxter County, which was created after the war). Benbrook Mills is almost ready and is a return to Izard County.  It is one of the settlements that no longer exists in post-Civil War Arkansas. The mill itself was an early flour mill in Izard County, on Piney Creek north of Mount Olive and east of Calico Rock. I haven't determined yet exactly what happened to it. The mill had an "undershot" waterwheel rather than the more common "overshot."

The map is back to the typical tactical challenges of the campaign theater: wood hills and mountains. Jones Mountain and Twin Mountain large and high and will be exhausting to traverse off the roads.  The largest areas for deployments of large forces are near the mill and town and near the Hall farm to the north.
