Heavy Fighting at Sylamore Bottom - Morning of Day 8

1st Division, II Corps Army of the Arkansas crossed to the east side of the White River on Day 7 of the campaign and lightly skirmished with elements of the III Corps, Department of the Eastern Frontier. On the morning of Day 8, Maj. Gen. Piatt (II Corps) has rushed Bradley's Division (2/II/AOA) across the bridge in support as III/DEF has advanced to attack the bridgehead position.
