At 10:45 a.m., the Army of the Arkansas III Corps was advancing against Haggerty's line on Baker's Spring Branch south of Tomahawk. Their II Corps was marching over Robertson Hill towards Haggerty's right. At Wilson's Junction, the Army of the Arkansas is falling back.... quickly.
With most of the DEF II Corps still passing through Locust Grove town, Stanley's I Corps (AOA) is moving in all directions, with Mallory's 2nd Division disengaging from Bowden's assault, as Bowden tries to press forward. Sourwait's and Steward's Brigades from Stanley's 1st Division has charged forward to cover the retreating 2nd Division and artillery. Dupont's 3rd Division is simultaneously attempting to hold off an assault by Swain's Division (2/I/DEF) and move its reserves up to the right to cover any retreat.
By 10:50 a.m., all I/AOA batteries are on the Freight Road and heading north. I Corps is pressing, but Swain's men and Wale's left brigades are almost exhausted. Will they be able to pin some of Stanley's men long enough for the arriving II Corps to strike?
