Now known as Salem Knob, Pilot Knob (Pilot Hill) has an elevation of about 1080 feet. It stands out above the landscape of that area of Fulton County. The one photo below is most likely looking across the Spring River. When making maps, I usually don't mix deciduous and coniferous trees in the same forest, but based on the photographs, I may mix them on this map.




That wouldn't be the Spring River. The Spring River starts at nearby Mammoth but doesn't go on to Salem. The river in the picture is called the Southfork. The knob is primarily populated with oak trees.
