Dibble's Brigade, with five large regiments, was able to continually outflank Herling's Brigade at Willow and slowly force him out of otherwise good positions. After leaving his final position on the east bank of Beaver Creek, Herling retired towards Tulip, followed by Dibble. They arrived at dusk, with Herling moving to the Pickett Farm, and Dibble stopping for the night on the Stevens Farm.
No infantry was engaged on the 8th.
