Blevins Ridge

Blevins Ridge is a steep ridge that extends south and west of the T. Blevins House, with a ravine where the Military Road crosses the ridge near the Morton Creek ford.

Stanley's I Corps (AOA) crossed the White River from J. Martin, led by Mallory's Division. Gillmore's Brigade (1/2/I/AOA) and Renniger's Brigade (2/2/I/AOA) ascended the portion of Blevins Ridge due south of the Blevins House against Wickson's St. Petersburg Battery.  Despite their exhaustion, heavy losses from canister fire and a routed regiment, Gillmore and Renniger were able to take the ridge and drive off Wickson before Wickson's infantry support could come up the opposite slope of the ridge from Military Road. Mallory's Division, which lost a gun at Tulip Creek (WIA2) somehow managed to capture two of Capt. Wickson's 12lb Napoleon guns.
