WIA5 will be a purely strategic level simulation. Players will move units and supplies (ordnance) from one town to another across the campaign theatre. Any action will be wholly fought out by AI (artificial intelligence). Although there will be two Division Commanders under each player, given the large size of the campaign theatre and relatively small size of the forces available, it is unlikely that divisions will take to the field as a single unit. A more likely scenario is that brigades and regiments will be detached to take and garrison various towns across the Ozarks.
Division Commanders may be assigned to the troops garrisoning a town. When a division commander is present and the town is occupied, an extra morale bonus will be given to that town. If the town is also the location of a secondary supply depot, the Division Commander whose headquarters is located there may be given the only contingency order allowed in WIA5: "Destroy the Ordnance Depot if threatened by the enemy." But... will he actually destroy it.
As with many of the other factors in the simulation, the actual result will be determined by the roll of a dies using a probability table based on the commander's initiative attribute. The higher the rating, the more likely the commander is to successfully execute the contingency order to destroy the ammunition and prevent it from falling into enemy hands. It is still, however, possible (however remotely) that a Division Commander with the lowest initiative rating manages to destroy the ordnance, while a Division Commander with an excellent rating fails.
WIA5 - Make your best plans, issue the orders and then see what happens....
